SPART*A Builds Partnership with Military Partners and Families Coalition
LGBT Military Group Creates Partnership Extending Networks for Both Organizations

Washington, D.C., August 28, 2013 – SPART*A, an organization of LGBT service members, their families, and veterans, formally announced its decision today to join in a partnership with a major organization helping same-sex military families, the Military Partners and Families Coalition (MPFC), allowing both organizations to help one another through access to common resources, education, and networking opportunities while advancing equality for LGBT service members, their families, and veterans.

“Military Partners and Families Coalition board has agreed to a coalition partnership with SPART*A. We see this as a terrific strategic partnership. We are looking forward to talking more about how SPART*A's extensive networks can benefit from the work we've been doing and how together we can advance the movement toward equality for the LGBT military community as a whole,” said Ariana Bostian-Kentes, President of MPFC.

MPFC has done extensive work along with other family-oriented organizations to bring education about the resources and benefits now afforded our families since landmark cases involving the repeal of DADT and provision of DOMA. Granting benefits for same-sex military families is accelerating rapidly as the equality movement presses forward.

“We want to say thank you to MPFC for believing in our newly established organization and giving us such a warm welcome. We look forward to partnering with them on projects and events in the future. As a married service member, I am extremely excited to see what both of our organizations can do together to further support the LGBT military community and our families,” said Tania Dunbar, SPART*A Board Co-Chair.
