A nationally respected and award winning leadership, communications, and diversity consultant, Allyson Robinson has built a career helping leaders and the organizations they lead discover, refine, communicate, and live into their values. As principal of her own boutique consulting firm, Warrior Poet Strategies, she advises select clients in organizational design, change strategy, diversity management, and social and civic entrepreneurship. Prior to founding Warrior Poet, she helped lead internal and external diversity initiatives at the Human Rights Campaign, the nation's largest lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) civil rights organization. While there, she conceived, created, and launched HRC’s social enterprise to train large organizations in diversity and inclusion. Later, Robinson became the first transgender person to lead a national LGBT civil rights organization as executive director of OutServe-SLDN. In October 2013, she was named DC's Best Transgender Advocate by the Washington Blade. A native of Scranton, Pennsylvania, Robinson is a 1994 graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point, where she majored in physics. After receiving her commission as an officer in the U.S. Army, she commanded PATRIOT missile units in Europe and the Middle East. She also worked as a senior trainer and evaluator for NATO and as an advisor to the armed forces of Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and Qatar. Robinson resigned her commission in 1999 to pursue a calling to pastoral ministry, serving as pastor-teacher to multi-cultural, multi-generational congregations on two continents. She earned a Master of Divinity in Theology with a capstone emphasis in social justice from Baylor University in 2007.Robinson lives with her wife Danyelle and their four children in the Maryland suburbs of Washington, D.C.
